Children are not small adults! They think differently and look at the world differently that adults do, so we approach their dental care from that perspective.  We never jump right into treatment, whether it be a cleaning or restoring cavities.  We always talk about what we will be doing, show children the instruments that we will be using while demonstrating each one, and then we slowly start treatment.

In general many dental procedures are the same for children and adults, but the small size of a child’s mouth, teeth, and a shorter attention span requires us to work efficiently and quickly.  We use distractions such as televisions, singing, and chatter to keep children alert and entertained.
